I received my Hoover 5914-900 steamvac one week ago, and just tried it out today. I had really bad grease stains by the front door from shoes that had been in the car garage. Used hot water only at first. Gone! Had dog accident (urine)spots in the formal dining room. Hot water only. Gone! The thing just works GREAT!!! Definitely pick one of these up if you are in need of a steamvac.

what can you say about a book that delivers time after time. i get something very different from it now than when i was sixteen. it still matters, for a new set of reasons, and that’s what makes it great.

I have read the book once and have listened to it in it’s entirety 4 times. This is my Bible. It has comfort me many times through the loss of parents and being broken heart by who I thought was the love of my life.
Through the Audio version I have always felt as though God was talking directly to ME. But every couple of years, I need to remind myself how much God loves me and is always there for me.
Even now, as I write this review, I feel like God is watching over my shoulder and I feel so much better about this day.

We’ve been using Office XP for way too long, but it did everything we needed it to do so there was no reason to upgrade.
When my wife got a new laptop, some of the software she uses under Windows 7 wouldn’t work with Office XP, and we were forced to bite the bullet and upgrade to the current version. And it honestly isn’t bad! Very different coming from something so old, but there are a lot of improvements that make it worthwhile.
I’m not crazy about how Microsoft changed around it’s various licensing schemes and the cost of upgrading, but the Home and Student version hits the sweet spot of giving us what we needed without too extreme a cost.
If you only need the basic applications in Office, and it’s time to upgrade, this package is definitely worth a look.

Like many other reviewers who purchased this scale, I was tired of the unreliability of my analog scale and would like one that gives consistent readings. After reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews I decided on this EatSmart scale. I’ve used it for a little over a month now, tracking and recording my weight almost daily. For the most part I agreed with the positive reviews: it is nice to look at, easy to use, and does give out consistent readings. However, I’ve also noticed some anomalies.
What I’ve noticed is that this scale (mine at least) only gives out a couple of different numbers for the first decimal place of a given pound reading. What I mean is, if the scale tells me my weight is 110.4 (fictitional number) on that day, the next time my weight hits the 110 range it would still be 110.4. If my weight is 111.6 one day, next time my weight hits the 111 range the first decimal place will very likely be 6 and not some other numbers.
This all could be a coincidence so I decided to run a little experiment. I used two oranges, weighing between 8 to 9 ounces each (about .5 pound). I first weigh myself and get one reading, say 110. Then I weigh myself again with one orange; the scale would still report 110. Only until I weigh myself with two oranges I get an increment in reading, say 111.2 for example. Now if I remove one orange and weigh myself again, the same me with one orange would now weight 111.2 instead of 110. After I remove the last orange and weigh only myself again, my weight reading would return to 110. The result of this crude experiment, and my experience of using it daily, suggests to me that there may be some memory mechanism in the scale to make it give out consisent readings for repeated measures over a short period of time. It could also be that the scale applies some heavy filtering mechanism to remove all fluctuations below one pound to make multiple readings consistent.
The bottomline is it’s probably a good scale to track relative b

Thought it looked cheap and would break when I first looked at it. Also, it’s so light, so it’s kind of deceiving. I was thinking, “how can something so light be so powerful?” When I put it together and turned the vacuum on, I was like, whoa! It’s powerful for it’s size and sucks up a lot at a time. Light, but powerful. Good vacuum. I would recommend it.

I bought this Hoover out of frustration. With a new dog going through house training “issues”, I’ve been regularly renting a “Rug Doctor” to clean the 2 hallways that seem to get the most abuse. At about $25.00 per rental, it was getting crazy. The Hoover SteamVac (with a 3 year extended warranty) was about the cost of 6 rentals.
The SteamVac is lighter, more maneuverable, and easier to handle in general in typical home use. Fully filled, it’s lighter than some vacuum cleaners that I’ve used. This Hoover actually cleans better than the “Rug Doctor”! The rotating scrub brushes really seem to assist in the cleaning. The first time that I used it, there was dirtier water in the collection tank than when I used the “Rug Doctor”. It also seems to vacuum up more of the cleaning solution than the rental. In addition to getting more solution up, the carpet drys much quicker. The power spray permits you to target spots and problem areas very easily.
I haven’t had any of the leakage issues that some of the other reviewers have reported. It does NOT have the cleaner capacity of the pro cleaner, but it is very easy to empty the collection tank and refill the solution tank.
It’s only been used 3 times, but I would HIGHLY recommend it for home use to anyone. If you have very large areas to clean, the limited capacity of the tanks could be a concern.

I bought the Kindle 1 quite early and have been reading on it with great delight these past several years. I am an older individual and have found the adjustable type at Level 5 a special comfort in reading. After due consideration I recently bought the new Kindle 2 model, and it’s the differences to me I want to address. The new model has multiple improvements and is a much sleeker package, and I am still getting accustomed to it. However, it strikes me that the K1 was a reading device, with little attention to pictorial graphics, print-to-speech, etc.; it fit in the hand in its leather case, much like a small book. It was simplicity itself. The new device first doesn’t seem to me as easy to read: in apparently achieving more precise graphics with its greater gray scale capacity, the K2 print no longer looks like print on paper; the background is now a smooth grey and the type looks like print on a sheet of laser paper. The earlier K1 had a much greater illusion of print on slightly rougher and grayer facsimile paper–one literally was lost in print and the type stood out with more solidity. Further, the spacing of print on the newer model seems more crowded despite the adjustment control (it only affects the margins); when I compare the same page of text on both models at the same print size, clearly the K1 has a more spacious grouping of words, and with it a greater illusion of reading text. I think this has something to do with the gray scale once again. To my eyes, the brief “flash” on screen when page turning seems greater and more obtrusive in the new model. As one reader had previously noted, the absence of highlighted passages in full on the Notes & Marks pages is also sorely missed for those of us who like to review our books by reading through our notes and marked passages. Furthermore, on that page, the abbreviated first line or so of a highlight indicated on the Notes & Marks pages is now rendered in the same large print I use for routine r
