The story moves cleverly between the world of 90, or possibly, 93 year old, Jacob, in a nursing home, as he tells the story of his life, the Depression era and the circus world.
He was twenty-three and almost ready to take his final exam, when he receives word that both of his parents were in a car accident and did not survive. There was no money as he sat to take his final exam to become a veterinarian. Feeling desperate Jacob jumps on a moving train instead. Having no idea he has jumped on a circus train, he decides he has nothing left and starts working with the circus. He meets a beautiful woman, Marlena, but finds out quickly she is married to a mad-man. However, she returns the attraction and a great love story begins.
Water for Elephants is a compelling story that tells us all about growing old, corrupt management, animal cruelty, wonderful animals, kindness and loyalty between people and between people and animals in a world where indifference and cruelty are common.
The author’s obvious extensive research of history and circus life added so much interest to the background of a wonderful meaningful, love story.
This is such a wonderful read and well worth your time!
Great read for people of any age. Total escapism and pure entertainment.. Books would make some great movies
Becoming a Super Listener
I had a 1st generation Kindle and I upgraded to this 2nd Gen. It’s much better and still has the Wispernet, which is great. I read so much and I would have to carry those books – but I use the Kindle everyday, and have since they first came out. Even if you think you won’t like reading this way – try it…. find someone you know who has one and check it out – because it is way better than you think.
26 PC ULTIMATE SUPER
I just received the Garmin FR 305 device 2 weeks ago and I was really anxious to using it.
I love the running related features, it helps me a lot keep the pace, verify the distance, keep the timing so I remember to finally go home. I enjoyed it in the mountains as well, elevation measurements providing relatively accurate information.
One major dislike – the Heart Rate Monitor is not working at all, out of the box. I tried with a different battery, I forced the scan a couple of times. Absolutely no luck.
One “good” news is that the wrist watch detects the HRM from a friend, so I isolated the issue.
I hope Amazon/Garmin support will help me solve the issue.
Super Sensitive Octava Violin
All but one of us in our book club absolutely loved it – couldn’t put it down. I got up in the middle of the night and read for 2 hours because I HAD to see what happened next. You become very emotionally involved with these characters, and even those that are not very likeable, you feel as though you know them personally.
I found myself rooting for some of the characters and wanting to just shake some of them and say “What is WRONG with you”! Stockett has a very engaging and charming way of inviting you into the book – you feel as though you are part of it. My teenage daughter is reading it now and has become invested in the characters as well. It has inspired conversation and questions about that time and I think that she has learned from it. I did not want the book to end and hope that Stockett seriously considers a sequel. I loved these characters and want to know where their stories go from here.
Electra Bicycle Bell Super
At first I was a little skeptical because these were so inexpensive but we LOVE these strap covers. They really do help keep my sons head from flopping forward while riding in the car and his little neck from getting scratched or irritated from the straps. I highly recommend these to any new parents and they will always be given by me to friends as baby gifts.

Super Sensitive Octava Violin

10 PC SUPER ACCESSORY
It is a little bulky but it has been the best one I have owned. With other GPS enabled devices they get so complicated but this one is easy to use. And it is very accurate. The HRM strap is comfortable. Everything about it rocks.
