Talk about going back in time! I remember reading this in school over 50 years ago…and what memories it brings back. Good stuff…I feel like a kid again!

but probably better! I really knew almost nothing about these books other than it’s about a young criminal mastermind, basically he’s an all-around genius. The fact that the story contains fantasy creatures like fairies and centaurs was something by which I was unaware and pleasantly surprised.
The story starts cryptically with young Artemis and his bodyguard Butler searching for something of great value (for a host of reasons). Artemis’ plot to kidnap a fairy for the ransom gold unfolds and seems inplausible in our real world but just another day at the office for the boy. And one seemingly flaw in Artemis’ plan keeps you guessing, resulting in astonished glee at his genius.
The story sucks you in and is ejoyable to the core. The characters are believable and identifiable. I enjoyed this so much more than I would have imagined and I think you will too. (By the way, the audio versions are excellent; the narrarator really bring the characters to life.)

Just ordered this vacuum and received it from Amazon. Seriously for the price this vacuum really gets the job done. I use it to clean my cages for my pet rats with the extendable hose and it works great. Clogs sometimes for me, but its because of all the bones I pick up. This Vacuum comes with one bag already and has incredible suction power. Great Vacuum, Great Value, it runs like a hoover =]

Iomega 34427 DVD Writer is really so slim that it fits into my laptop case perfectly. It is not only slim but lightweight too. This DVD writer is very essential bcoz I always need it just like my mobile phone. And I also got the Nero Essentials software which makes CD and DVD writing much simpler but this software was a trial version and I had to purchase it for further use. I can now burn my home videos anywhere I happen to be. And this DVD writer allows burning a max of 8.5 GB per DVD. Chic design and looks great with my Acer Aspire laptop. I run my laptop on Windows XP and this hardware was instantly recognized. And it does not require any drivers to work. I didn’t have to use up both the USB ports on this DVD writer because it works fine on one. Good that I have a USB port to spare and needs no external power supply.

This is by far the best scale I’ve ever had. I purchased it based on a glowing recommendation from my son – even though I had a nearly-new, perfectly good scale. And I was not disappointed. My favorite aspects are the way you immediately get the reading without having to tap the scale first – as well as the large size of the numnbers. And it was a great value.

So far, so good. Only real complaints are short hoses for the brush attachments. We haven’t had an issue with not being able to turn off the brush for bare floor vacuuming.
Gitzo GH2750 Series 2
I just received the Garmin FR 305 device 2 weeks ago and I was really anxious to using it.
I love the running related features, it helps me a lot keep the pace, verify the distance, keep the timing so I remember to finally go home. I enjoyed it in the mountains as well, elevation measurements providing relatively accurate information.
One major dislike – the Heart Rate Monitor is not working at all, out of the box. I tried with a different battery, I forced the scan a couple of times. Absolutely no luck.
One “good” news is that the wrist watch detects the HRM from a friend, so I isolated the issue.
I hope Amazon/Garmin support will help me solve the issue.
Patton 2 DVD Cinema
I feel a little weird writing a critical review about this book. It was strongly recommended to me by several people who said it was “a great story” so I was expecting something that would truly captivate me and pull me in. For me, it simply fell short.
I think that a tremendous amount of time and effort went into the research involved for this book and that should not go unnoticed. If you’re looking for a book that clearly depicts the Great Depression and/or circus life during that time period – by all means you should pick up the book. I do not know a tremendous amount about that time period to tell you if it was fully accurate, but I feel that it did give me a pretty good picture of what circus life would be like in that era. The photographs installed at the beginning of each chapter also did a great job connecting the story with the reality of traveling circuses of the time. The language probably could have corresponded a bit more, but in terms of the spirit and energy of the book versus the time period in which it takes place, I think it was pretty spot on.
However, I really had trouble connecting with the characters. They simply did not seem like well-rounded, real people to me. I understand that the characters should be eccentric considering they are individuals traveling with a circus, but not to the point where they should seem artificial. Their emotional reactions to various tumultuous situations seemed unrealistic – based on having experienced similar situations in my life. The psychological repercussions would have been huge for a lot of the major conflicts that occur in the book – especially during the time of the Great Depression – but I did not feel the degree of inner struggle within the characters was well represented throughout the story. The characters would get sad or angry, but they seemed to sedate their feelings pretty darn quick.
The depiction of the main character in his old age, however, seemed more realistic to me. I thought the scenes

Like you I read the reviews for the Ion VCR 2 PC converter. The reviews seemed split between fantastic and piece of crap. Tough to reconcile, huh? It really worked quite well right out of the box. Loading the software was simple and the controls were pretty intuitive. I’ve enjoyed loading different VHS tapes, etc.
It seems that the complaints are glitches – computers that didn’t work well with it and/or folks who expected a lot of editing abilities – they aren’t there. This is great for converting VHS to PC – just what I wanted, just what I got – I love it!
